Wansfell

Distance: 8.63km
Ascent: 602m
Duration: 4 Hours 46 Minutes

Today we stayed local as the weather was not meant to be great but at least it was dry! The cloud base hung around 500m so we chose Wansfell so we could walk from where we were staying!

On our way up to Wansfell we chose a path beside Stock Ghyll Beck to see the waterfalls.

Stock Ghyll Force.

Ascending steadily up the fellside.

Looking down to Ambleside and the road up to Kirkstone Pass.

Windermere from Wansfell Pike.

Wansfell Pike summit. From here we followed the ridge for just over 1km to the true summit of the fell.

The cairn on Wansfell true summit, known as Baystones.

And again looking to Windermere.

The ridge path back to Wansfell Pike.

Distant and murky Langdale Pikes.

Shafts of light down onto Windermere.

On the descent back down to Ambleside.

Red Screes and a hint of blue sky over Kirkstone Pass.

Great Rigg and Fairfield with a dusting of snow and sunshine.

Final image as we make our way down the steps and back into town.
