Sport Climbing in Spain
Me and Megan headed off on a two part holiday, celebrating her 30th birthday. The first part involved flying over to Spain and enjoying 5 days of amazing sport climbing. What an incredible time we had - with one day of rain and plenty of rock climbing.
Coming in to Land at Alicante.
We stayed at The Orange House - a Hostel for Climbers and Hikers.
Incredible mountain views. We spent the afternoon over at some roadside climbing at Sella but forgot to take any photos!
The next day rain was forecast all day so we headed towards Alicante with the plan of going indoor bouldering but as we got close it stopped raining and we found a nearby crag that turned out to have some stunning climbs on!
Wow look at that cave going through the mountain!
Enjoying the breath-taking views.
A spot of lunch!
Plenty of others climbing here too.
Even starting to brighten up!
Planning our next move…
Even more arriving to enjoy the climbing and nice weather.
Absolutely stunning.
Meg half way up.
The following day it really did rain, everywhere… So we headed to a rocky outcrop north of Benidorm and enjoyed a coastal walk in the rain.
A stunning bay to the north.
Beautiful.
We followed a path down to the beach and then up to the lighthouse at the end.
Down by the sea for a few minutes.
Leaving the beach behind.
Ruins as we headed up to the lighthouse.
Beautiful views opening up again.
Wow! That’s an impressive cliff!
What an Epic view!
This little one followed us around for a while.
We also too a detour off the path up to a massive cave!
Epic views once again!
Morning views to the mountains.
Sunshine today and 18 degrees!
Stunning crags!
Stunning climbing crag again. We are in for a good day!
Up Meg goes!
Much later in the day now and we decided to do a multi-pitch - my first ever sport multi-pitch! Here I am looking down to Megatron from the top of the second pitch.
Stunning views along the valley.
This was our descent.
Evening sunset lighting up the mountains making them glow orange!
Another day of superb weather and we spent the entire day on the crag. Right until sunset.
Stunning scenery!
Captured by a kind climber further along the crag.
We climbed for hours on the crag and then descended to a nearer crag to the car and enjoyed the final hour of light.
Amazing to see it lit up at night like this.
