The Long Mynd

Distance: 13.3km
Ascent: 443m
Duration: 4 Hours 7 Minutes

Me and my sister headed out to the Shropshire Hills again to walk to the summit of Pole Bank but try and do a slightly different route to last time so we descended to the north and enjoyed the steep sided valleys over there.

Heading along the Carding Mill valley.

Lightspout Waterfall.

Continuing up the valley with views back to Caer Caradoc Hill.

Zooming in on Caer Caradoc Hill - the summit contains an Iron Age Fort.

The summit trig point at 516m asl.

The Trig and the viewing pillar.

Looking across to Corndon Hill and if you look behind that to the right, you can just make out Cadair Idris, 73km away.

One of the many ancient burial mounds on these summits.

Looking east to Caer Caradoc and surrounding hills.

Heading around the valleys to find a route down into The Batch.

A view down onto the Iron Age Fort of Bodbury Ring.

Open views of the hills around Caer Caradoc.

Church Stretton far below.

Lovely rolling hills around Shropshire. The summit of Pole Bank is up to the right.

Following the path down into the valley. That’s The Wrekin in the distance.

Heading into Cwmdale.
