Sour Howes and Sallows

Distance: 8.78km
Ascent: 465m
Duration: 2 Hours 55 Minutes

As we were staying down in Ambleside I kept local today and ticked off Sallows and Sour Howes for the third time and the weather was kind once again with some lovely views!

Beginning my ascent along the Garburn Road.

I turned off and headed for Sour Howes first which was not the original plan and I am very glad I did it this way as it was so wet and muddy I would have slipped all the way down the fellside! The views of Windermere on the way up were stunning!

A panorama from near the top of Sour Howes.

The highest point on the fell top and another walker at the cairn.

Down in the Col between Sour Howes and Sallows.

Close to the summit of Sallows.

Views across many layers of fells to Heron Pike on the Fairfield Horseshoe.

Looking to Windermere and Sour Howes.

The descent to Garburn Pass.

Looking along Troutbeck now the weather has improved a bit!

A final view as I continue down Garburn Pass to Troutbeck.
