B29 Superfortress

Distance: 10.11km (6.28 Miles)
Ascent: 209m (686ft)
Duration: 3 Hours 34 Minutes

Today I am in the Peak District to enjoy a little climbing holiday but the weather wasn’t great for outdoor climbing so we headed out on a walk first before going indoors at Sheffield. We had no plans for a hike but its been many years since I was last up at the B29 Superfortress Crash Site so we headed there only to find out its was its 75th Anniversary today!

Beginning at the layby at Doctors Gate.

Now on the Pennine Way National Trail.

The summit cairn on Bleaklow Head.

This small pile of stones is officially the highest point at 633m asl.

The Wain Stones on Bleaklow. From here we headed south the Hern Stones and then across the moor to the crash site.

A waterfall along Crooked Clough on the descent.

Distant Manchester.

Zooming in on the city.
