The Stour Valley Path is a lovely 62 mile long distance trail that begins in the Suffolk town of Newmarket and follows the catchment area of the River Stour. The trail passes through dozens of lovely villages such as Clare, Cavendish, Long Melford, Bures and Stoke by Nayland to eventually reach the Stour Estuary at Cattawade. Much of the route is well served by public transport making shorter day walks easy to plan, or complete the entire route over 4 or 5 days with plenty of overnight stops to choose from. The route also takes in numerous wildlife hotspots like Sudbury Meadows and Cattawade Marshes with a chance to see some of the rarer species seen in Suffolk and Essex.
