Mid-Suffolk Footpath
Guidebook available in the Shop!
Distance: 21.5 Miles
Start: River Waveney, Hoxne
Finish: Stowmarket Greens Meadow, Stowmarket
The Mid-Suffolk Footpath is a 21.5 mile long waymarked trail from the Norfolk Border just north of Hoxne to the town of Stowmarket. It mostly sticks to rural paths and country lanes, avoiding any large built up areas with the opportunity to puck up supplies along the way at one of the local shops or pubs.
The Mid Suffolk Footpath follows a 22 mile long diagonal route across central Suffolk, beginning on the Angles Way just into Norfolk and ending on the edge of Stowmarket. It visits several beautiful villages along the way including Thorndon and Mendlesham, both offering a chance for some refreshments. The historic town of Eye is skirted but a short detour will allow for views of the stunning Norman Motte and Bailey Castle, the unique Town Hall and the Parish Church with the Grade I listed guildhall alongside. For those not wanting to complete a longer linear trail, this book also contains six circular walks that take in the best parts of the Mid Suffolk Footpath
